WEDDING HAIR 101

By C. Ramos
You always wondered what it would be like but not even you (the “Less-Likely to be Speechless” from the irresistible pack) could have put it into words as you were engulfed by indescribable excitement and what seemed to be a rush of emotions.

It happened! Yes, you were now engaged, but after sharing the glorious news with the world, fear began to set in.

The dress, the hair, the planner….The list was endless! Recruitment had to begin immediately to make the Fairy-Tale Wedding a reality!

The dress would surely be on top of the Golden List, but what next? The hair, of course!

Not only will it be in every picture accessorizing the dress and framing your face, but it will complete the gorgeous, flawless look you had in mind.

THINGS TO CONSIDER:
  • Choose a Stylist you trust
  • Choose a Style that will suit your dress
  • Is your heart set on wearing certain special hair pieces?
  • Choose a hairstyle that will suit where the ceremony will be held
  • Are you considering extensions to perfect your desired look that will require additional length?
  • Is there a specific budget you want to adhere to?
WEDDING HAIR OPTIONS:
  • All-up with structured curls strategically placed to create a very unique controlled look.
  • Half-up with defined curls
  • All down with cascading loose curls
  • Classic bun accessorized with decorative pins, flowers or your own hair
  • Traditional Chignon with a creative, classy twist
DON’T FORGET:
  • Take pictures to make your ideas more visual for the stylist
  • No matter how creative, make sure to go with a stylist that makes you feel comfortable
  • Ask questions
  • Don’t agree to go with a stylist that has never had any experience with wedding updos. Experience is key!
  • Just because you might be on a budget, does not mean you want to go with a stylist that is the least expensive. Remember, you don’t want to cut on hair since you’ll probably end up regretting it throughout the big event.
  • Make sure you don’t have your first visit with the stylist on your wedding day. (Most stylists offer a practice “test” in order for you to decide on the final look and to make sure you’re delighted with the chosen style.)
  • The style you decide on should be one that you won’t regret when you reflect on your wedding day, so don’t put “catwalk hair” on top of your list —Accessories can create elegance and make a simple dress look sophisticated
  • As Xavier, fashion hair expert, reminds us, “A bride should always remember that just like their wedding, their hair should be elegant and timeless. After all, class never goes out of style”.
So as we end our ‘Wedding Hair 101’ crash course, you should now have the right ideas and questions in mind to start the search for that perfect stylist. Of course, it goes without saying that you should never feel obligated to use your current colour and cut confidant for your Big Day. If your search leads you to another stylist worthy of worship status that creates nothing but magic, don’t worry….We won’t tell!
